FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026
ANNOUNCEMENT NO. 2
In order to harmonise the Regional Championships Regulations with the regulations and practice governing the organisation of national fly-fishing competitions, i.e. competitions in the Polish Grand Prix series and the Polish Championships, the organiser has decided to amend the Regulations for the Regional Championships in 2026 as follows:
Point 7 of the Regulations, ‘Fishing will take place in two sectors in pairs: a competing angler + a judging angler’, is deleted and replaced with the following text:
- Each competitor is required to have a device (mobile phone, camera) for taking photographs of the fish caught. Method of documenting caught fish: Before the competition round, each competitor receives a measuring stick, a sticker indicating the competition round and a start card. After landing a fish, the competitor must take a photograph of the fish on the measuring stick with the date and time displayed (no assistance from other people is permitted during measurement). To take the photograph on the measuring tape, place the fish on its right side with its mouth facing
towards the ‘0’ mark on the tape and the dorsal fin at the top of the photograph, so that the measuring tape
showing the round number, the measurement result and the whole fish. The fish must then be released, and its length, accurate to 1 mm, must be recorded on the entry form, followed by a photograph of the form. The sequence of photographs of the fish and the entry form must be maintained. Blurred photographs, those not showing the entire fish, etc., will result in the result being disqualified. An exception is made for photographs that do not show the entire fish, e.g. where the tail is obscured, provided the visible measurement exceeds the minimum size required for scoring. In this case, the minimum size required for scoring is accepted. Whilst fishing, the landing net must be kept out of the water; this does not apply to landing the fish or taking a photograph. In the event of mishandling a caught fish or accepting assistance from another person whilst documenting the catch, the competitor will be penalised with a warning, the caught fish will not be counted, or the competitor may be disqualified from the competition. At the end of the round, the competitor is required to hand in their entry card
and to show the chief judge the photographs of the fish and the photograph of the card with the relevant entries, as recorded on their device.
Furthermore, the following provision is added:
The competition will take place in the senior individual and junior individual categories. For a competitor under the age of 18 to be eligible to compete, written consent from their legal guardians for participation in the competition is required, as well as the presence of a personal guardian. Throughout the entire duration of the round, juniors are required to wear a life jacket (safety vest).
