Anglers need their districts to work together
On the initiative of the Management Boards of the PZW Districts in Słupsk and Zielona Góra, a meeting was held on 25–26 April between representatives of the PZW Districts in Zone I – namely Elbląg, Gdańsk, Słupsk, Koszalin, Nadnotecki – Piła, Legnica, Szczecin, Zielona Góra and Wałbrzych. The attendees were welcomed by Mr Teodor Rudnik, Chairman of the PZW District Board in Słupsk, and Mr Jacek Maniszewski, Mayor of Ustka. In their speeches, they emphasised the importance of angling in enhancing the tourist and ecological appeal of the regions represented in the zone, as well as the new challenges currently facing the Polish Angling Association, such as the implementation of the Central Database and the growing importance of online applications for temporary amateur fishing permits.
During the working part of the meeting, the assembled chairmen and district representatives discussed the framework for resuming cooperation between the districts within the zone, based on a draft set of principles for such cooperation drawn up by the Zielona Góra District Board. Attention was drawn to the need to improve the exchange of information regarding temporary recreational fishing permits issued by the districts, as well as various forms of cooperation for the benefit of anglers not only in their home district but also across the zone, e.g. regarding the provision of publicly accessible fishing grounds, the organisation of 1) angling events, the exchange of ichthyological information, etc. Following a lively discussion, it was agreed that the proposed guidelines for Zone I’s activities would form the basis for the district boards to draw up their positions and, in the form of resolutions, forward them to the PZW Regional Organisation in Słupsk, so that it could prepare the documents necessary for the zone’s continued operation.
Overall, it was agreed that the meeting had been very useful and necessary.
