Meeting of the Management Board of the Słupsk District of the Polish Angling Association (PZW), 29 April 2023
Fishing outcomes are determined by the management and protection of water bodies, the sport of angling, and work with children and young people.
On Saturday 29 April 2023, a meeting of the Słupsk District Board of the Polish Angling Association (PZW) was held at the PZW headquarters in Słupsk, which was also attended by the chairmen of the Regional Audit Committee and the Regional Peer Court.
The chair of the Regional Organisation, Mr Teodor Rudnik, who chaired the meeting, after approving the agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting, formally presented the ‘‘For Services to the Polish Angling Association’ to editor Tomasz Częścik, which had been awarded by the PZW Central Executive Board back in 2020.
The meeting began with a report on the implementation of stocking programmes in 2022 and the results of the sea trout catch station’s operations. As reported by ichthyologist Wojciech Sobiegraj, deputy director of the Regional Organisation’s office and manager of the Stocking Centre in Damnica, last year the district carried out 360 stocking operations, allocating 753,000 zł for this purpose. All obligations arising from the fishing management plans for leased fishing grounds, lakes and ponds were fulfilled. The information was noted with approval, whilst expressing great gratitude to all ZO staff and the active members of the clubs looking after the individual water bodies and fishing grounds involved in the stocking process; the water management plan for 2023 was then approved. This plan took into account all the proposals submitted to the Regional Organisation following the meetings of the local fishing clubs and district councils.
With regard to the issue of fisheries management in the district’s waters, a position statement was sent by a majority vote to the PZW Executive Board, expressing a negative view on the abolition of membership fee concessions for pensioners.
This was followed by a presentation by Mr Mieczysław Siwiec, Chair of the Council for Youth Work, on the current status of angling schools, instructors and youth work supervisors. It was agreed that, in the near future, the Council would gather comprehensive information on the needs and organisation of youth work, and would also present a programme of angling events to mark Children’s Day. In connection with this matter, applications were approved for submission to the PZW Executive Board to award the rank of youth work inspector to Michał Budzich, Jerzy Wróż, Mieczysław Siwiec, Szymon Karczewski, Adam Sujka, Waldemar Kobylczak, Leszek Sosnowski, Krzysztof Duńca, Tomasz Krauze and Tomasz Borowiecki.
Under ‘Any Other Business’, with two abstentions, a motion was passed to subsidise the trip of our competitor Antoni Wysocki to the World Junior Fly-Fishing Championships, and resolutions were passed on plans to develop the area around Lake Jeleń through the construction of a jetty and the modernisation of the Wołcza Wielka fishing lodge.
At the chairman’s request, a debate took place concerning the structure of the Regional Organisation’s office in relation to activities for the management and protection of water bodies, the level of remuneration in this area, and the payment schedules. Following an exchange of views, those present adopted the proposals put forward by Renata Sobka, Director of the Regional Organisation’s office, and Chairman T. Rudnik.
The meeting concluded on a pleasant note with a tribute to Anna Mojsiewicz, who is retiring, in recognition of her work for the district to date. Thank you, Anna.
