13th National Boat-Based Spinning Competition for Pairs
Człuchów, Lake Rychnowskie, 11 September 2022
The Człuchów branch of the Polish Angling Association (PZW) organised the National Spinning Competition for Pairs from Boats for the thirteenth time. Forty-seven two-person teams were registered at the start. The competitors came mainly from northern Poland. Most of the teams were from outside our region. Sunday 11 September was initially cloudy with light rain, but it cleared up in the afternoon. The competitors had no cause to complain about the weather conditions. It was a pleasant day’s fishing.
The competition began at 8.00 am. The first reports from the water about pike catches came in shortly after the start. Thanks to the three judges’ boats supporting the competition, the fish caught were immediately measured, photographed and released back into the water. This gave the competition jury a real-time overview of the current situation on the water. During the six-hour competition, 13 scoring pike over 45 cm and exactly 100 scoring perch over 20 cm were caught. Interestingly, the same number of perch were caught the year before. In addition, there were many non-scoring fish, including both perch and pike.
The largest pike of the competition was caught by Oskar Dowksza from Człuchów, a member of team no. 30. The pike measured 67.0 cm. The largest perch caught, however, turned out to be two specimens, each 35.3 cm long. They were caught by Tomasz Duszyński from Kościerzyna and Dawid Ziółkowski from Biały Bór. By the standards of this lake, they weren’t huge specimens, but they were the largest caught that day.
The competition ended at 2.00 pm. This was followed by the official announcement of the results, the presentation of honorary and material prizes, and the handing out of souvenirs. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Człuchów, Ryszard Szybajło; the Head of the Człuchów Commune, Paweł Gibczyński; Wojciech Kallas, Mayor of Debrzno; Leszek Łozowicki, Chairman of the Przechlewo Commune Council; Jan Gajo, Deputy Head of the Przechlewo Commune; and Władysław Stroik, President of WOPR. To round off the event, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved, hot meal. All participants received commemorative gifts.
Final standings:
1st place: Dawid Ziółkowski from Biały Bór and Marcin Roszko from Szczecinek with an impressive total of 4,970 points;
1 pike and 20 perch
2nd place: Michał Wójcik and Oskar Dowksza from Człuchów with a score of 3,010 points;
1 pike and 8 perch
3rd place: Kamil Baczyński and Henryk Koselczuk from Więcbork with 2,800 points;
15 perch
4th place: Szymon Olter and Ireneusz Duszyński from Kościerzyna with a score of 2,570 points;
14 perch
5th place: Piotr Białek and Michał Jagusz from Debrzno with 2,400 points;
14 perch
6th place: Wojciech Karkut and Mariusz Darczyk from Miłocice with a score of 2,100 points.
2 pike
7th place: Mateusz Malecki and Henryk Malecki from Przechlewo with a score of 1,820 points.
8th place: Marek Myszka and Kazimierz Januszewski from Człuchów with a score of 1,550 points.
9th place: Paweł Milewczyk and Grzegorz Brejski from Człuchów with a score of 1,350 points.
10th place: Bogusław Mazalon and Przemysław Mazalon from Czarne with a score of 1,200 points.
The following teams also scored over 1,000 points: Lech Dyjas and Andrzej Zelewski from Czarne, Tomasz Jakubowiak and Łukasz Trofimowicz from Słupsk, and Leon Lew Kiedrowski and Rafał Barutowicz from Chojnice. They all scored 1,100 points each and shared 11th place. Twenty-three teams failed to catch any fish that scored points. Nevertheless, the competition must be considered a success. This year, for the first time, a new, progressive points system for perch was introduced, rewarding larger specimens of this species.
The competition was held with financial support from the Człuchów Local Authority, the Town of Człuchów, the Town of Debrzno, the Przechlewo Local Authority and Goodvalley Polska. In addition, the sponsors were: the Sport and Recreation Centre in Człuchów, the HOBBY fishing tackle shop in Człuchów, Aneta Jagusz’s Bakery in Debrzno and the PrintVision printing works. The Człuchów branch of WOPR assisted with the organisation and made its facilities available to the organisers.

Undoubtedly, the excellent work of the judging and organising teams contributed to the positive reception of the entire event. The National Spinning Competition, held regularly on Lake Rychnowskie, is the largest angling event in our region, and its popularity is constantly growing.
