In response to numerous enquiries from anglers regarding the possibility of fishing for pike in 2022, we would like to inform you that the closed season runs until 30 April 2022, and pike fishing will be permitted from 1 May 2022 (Sunday).
Paragraph 7(2) of the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of 12 November 2001 on the catching of fish and the conditions for the rearing, breeding and catching of other aquatic organisms, as cited by anglers, states “If the first or last day of the closed season for a specific species of fish or crayfish falls on a public holiday, the closed season shall be shortened by that day.” – this does not apply to 2022, as the last day of the closed season for pike, i.e. 30 April, falls on a Saturday, and Saturday is not a public holiday (Act of 18 January 1951 on public holidays, Journal of Laws of 2020, item 1920.)
