The Management Board of the Słupsk District of the Polish Angling Association is implementing, within the area covered by the Local Development Strategy of the ‘Pojezierze Bytowskie’ Local Fisheries Action Group ‘Bytów Lake District’ for the years 2014–2020, an operation receiving funding from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund under grant agreement No. 00186-6523.2-SW1110310/18 of 13 December 2018, concluded between the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Management Board of the Słupsk District of the Polish Angling Association.
Name of the operation: ‘Purchase of specialist equipment for the reintroduction of freshwater fish species of high conservation value in waters managed by the Słupsk Regional Board of the Polish Angling Association, active nature conservation and the prevention of poaching within the boundaries of the ‘Pojezierze Bytowskie’ Local Action Group (LAG) area

Objective of the operation:
To improve the state of the natural environment by combating poaching and restocking fish species of high conservation value in waters managed by the Słupsk Regional Board of the Polish Angling Association (PZW) within the Bytów Lake District LAG area.

Project 2.1.1. Measures to protect, improve and restore the environment and its components, including: the reintroduction of species of high conservation value, active nature conservation with particular emphasis on the protection of rivers and lakes, combating aquatic poaching or taking measures to mitigate the negative effects of climate change, and the creation and development of renewable energy installations, as defined by the regulations on renewable energy sources.
Scope of operations:
4.3. Supporting and utilising environmental assets in fisheries and aquaculture areas, including operations aimed at mitigating climate change,
4.3.1. Supporting the aquatic environment in fisheries and aquaculture areas by combating poaching,
4.3.2. Restoring or safeguarding the production potential of the fisheries and aquaculture sector, or restoring the original state of the environment in fisheries and aquaculture areas, where this has been destroyed as a result of events constituting a natural disaster or damage caused by the activities of protected animal species,
Description of the operation:
The operation will involve the purchase of specialist equipment for restocking with fish species of high conservation value in rivers and lakes managed by the Słupsk District Board of the Polish Angling Association, and to combatcombat aquatic poaching in these waters within the area of the ‘Pojezierze Bytowskie’ Local Fisheries Action Group.
Expected outcomes of the operation:
As a result of the operation, specialist equipment will be purchased:
- enabling the capture and transport of spawning fish of species of high conservation value for the purposes of artificial incubation, with a view to restocking standing and flowing waters (rivers, lakes), where their populations are significantly threatened and subject to high angling and fishing pressure due to their significant economic importance (a specialised vehicle with additional equipment, i.e.: fish transport tanks, an oxygen meter, a motorised pump)
- enabling the prevention of aquatic poaching as part of the statutory community activities of PZW members in flowing and standing waters (rivers and lakes) managed by the PZW Regional Board in Słupsk (binoculars, thermal imaging camera, video camera, Micro SD card, rechargeable torch, camera trap, digital night-vision device, drone, tablet, boats complete with engine, battery and trailer, life jackets for the boats)
